The librarian led us in a cheer! We all need to get moving!
We stopped at the bank on our hike and received a water bottle. You have to stay hydrated when you walk a lot!
At the post office, we stopped to do some jumping jacks and received a "Reading Rocks" pin.

Here we all are in front of our library. Waving our pennants and ready to hike and read!
All the third graders walked to the public library waving their "Healthy Hike Pennants". It was a great time. The sun was shining and the wind was blowing but everyone was having a great time. Once we arrived at the library, the librarian lead us in a cheer, told about Healthy Hike Bingo, and asked us to really get excited!!!! From the library, we hiked to city hall where we were met by the Mayor of Hawarden, Mr. Ric Porter. He told us how proud he was of us and led us to the Council Chambers. As a group we took the "Healthy Hike" pledge. Now for thirty days we promise to read and to move! What fun! After that, we hiked down main street Hawarden stopping at the Post Office, First State Bank, and Booth Pharmacy. Each of these places had a small gift for us to get us ready for thirty days of hiking and reading. We are going to MOVE and to READ!
